Monthly Grocery Haul- Family of 8- March 2025

It has been a while since I shared a monthly grocery haul. That’s because life has been crazy and I haven’t been doing meal planning and monthly grocery shopping like I should. You can see what happens when I do that in our last budget update! Yikes!

During March I am committed to lowering that grocery spending by getting back to the basics and doing things that I KNOW will immediately lower our food costs. I shared the four things I’m doing in March to lower our grocery spending, but I’ll give you a spoiler that one of them is have a well-planned monthly grocery shopping trip!

Before making the half hour drive to where I do my monthly grocery shopping, I planned out the dinners that we will have during the month. I knew we would be fine for breakfasts with what we have in our freezer and pantry. Lunch will either be leftovers, sandwiches, or something from the pantry or freezer. With the dinners I plan to make, I looked through what ingredients we all ready have and took note of what we still need. I also made note of all of the regular things that we buy like fresh produce.

Here is everything we bought on our monthly grocery shopping trip for our family of 8 in Northern California. If you prefer watching or listening to a video instead of reading through a list, you can check that at the end of the post.

Total for our Monthly Grocery Shopping

In all we spent $350 on our monthly shopping. You can see it didn’t have everything we will be eating for the month. I will still pick up milk and other produce as we need it during the week. I had planned to run into Sam’s Club after I picked up my order so that I could buy bananas (I like to pick them out myself), but I forgot. I will probably make a few trips to Grocery Outlet when I’m in the area to see what great deals they have. This is usually where I get things like crackers and granola bars, as well. We also have a plan to eat down what we have in our chest freezers, which will be a fun adventure. I’m not even sure what is down in the depths of those freezers!

Do any of these prices surprise you?
