Are Data analyst and Data scientist the same?
A data analyst is similar to a data scientist, but are often not responsible for creating the algorithms used for data discovery and acquisition. Rather than creating their own data projects, data analysts often tackle specific business tasks using existing tools, systems, and data sets. Both careers share a common goal: discover how to use information to answer questions

What do I need to know to become a data analyst?
-Programming
Programming Language is only a tool and more tools you have more powerfull you are. While traditional data analyst might be able to get away without being a full-stack developer, a good data analyst needs to be so comfortable with coding on a daily basis.
-Computational frameworks
These technologies help in significant data processing, that is why you need to have a good understanding and familiarity with frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Storm, Apache Samza, Apache Flink and the classic MapReduce and Hadoop.
-Data Warehousing
Experience with relational and non -relational database systems is a must.
— Mysql, Oracle, DB2. Hbase, HDFS, MongoDB etc….
-Team work and creative mind
Similar to developers, most usefull skills you need to have is great team work ability, your work should be simple and understandable to your team members, plus you should prove that you have a creative mind in order to keep finding solutions to help the company you work for reach to a usefull decisions regarding their businesses.
