Back in December I added a heatmap to SwingTradeBot. Creating a heatmap is something that had been on my to-do list forever. When I noticed that TradingView has a drop-in Heatmap Widget it was a no-brainer for me to use that instead of spending time trying to build my own. This powerful tool provides a visual representation of market performance, helping you quickly identify trends and opportunities across different sectors.

The heatmap offers a color-coded view of the market, making it easy to see which stocks or sectors are gaining or losing momentum at a glance — green shades indicate positive movement, red shades highlight negative movement while gray indicates moves smaller than the threshold set in the “heat multipler” control in the widget’s toolbar.
Key Features of the Heatmap Widget:
Customizable Time Frames – You can switch between different time frames (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, and even pre-market & post-market) to analyze short-term trends or long-term performance.
Sector and Industry Breakdown – Focus on specific market sectors to see which industries are leading or lagging. Zoom in to a sector by clicking on its name at the top of the sector grouping.
Stock-Specific Details – Click on a stock to be taken to its SwingTradeBot page. You can also hover your mouse pointer over a stock to get a little info pop-up, as shown for AZO in the screenshot above.
Filtering & Customization – There’s a lot you can do to tweak the heatmap to your liking. I encourage you to play around with all the options in the toolbar across the top of the widget.
