TikTok is making changes to its operational structure, leading to layoffs within its trust and security unit. This unit, which is responsible for managing content moderation, will reduce staffing levels in several regions. Adam Presser, who oversees TikTok’s operations, including this unit, informed employees of these changes via a memo on Thursday.
The restructuring is already affecting teams in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that these layoffs are part of a broader internal strategy to restructure the company.
The move follows a similar case last October, when TikTok downsized its global workforce by hundreds, including a significant number in Malaysia. At the time, the company highlighted a shift to using AI for content moderation.
Despite these changes, TikTok retains a large team of more than 40,000 trust and security professionals worldwide.
