U.S. District Judge Dale Ho appointed an independent attorney on Friday to argue against the Department of Justice’s motion to dismiss the public corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
In doing so, Ho, of the Southern District of New York, tapped Paul Clement, an appellate lawyer at Clement & Murphy who served as U.S. Solicitor General, to appear to offer “adversarial testing” of the DOJ and Adams request. At the same time, Ho adjourned the trial date of April 21 indefinitely.
