How to pre-order the new iPhone 16e in Canada

The iPhone 16e is available to pre-order from Apple today and costs $899 in Canada. It will arrive/hit store shelves on February 28.

If you don’t want to buy the phone outright, the tech giant is offering 24-month zero-percent financing, which costs $37.46 per month.

The iPhone is available in matte black and white and with three storage options.

For comparison, the iPhone SE was $579 CAD, and the iPhone 14 was $849 before getting discontinued after the reveal of the iPhone 16e. Apple no longer sells these phones, but you can still find them at various carriers or electronics stores in Canada.

If you do want to buy from Apple, the iPhone 15 starts at $999, and the iPhone 16 begins at $1,129. 

Adding an Apple Care+ extended warranty costs $169 or $8.49 per month. Apple sells a few Silicon cases in five colours for $55. That said, the Apple cases don’t include magnets to work with MagSafe accessories, so it might be worth looking at third-party case options.

Apple also offers various trade-in values if you wish to get rid of your old iPhone as you upgrade to the 16e.

Overall, if you need a no-frills iPhone experience and want your device to last a long time, this is likely the iPhone for you. Notably, this device has forward-thinking internals that work with Apple Intelligence and Apple’s first cellular modem, which allows for more battery life than any other iPhone this size.

Compared to the iPhone 15, the iPhone 16e is a fantastic deal since it has a better chipset, battery life and support for Apple intelligence. If you’re considering an iPhone 16, the 16e has better battery life, but it loses the ultra-wide camera, MagSafe support and the new Camera Control button.

The 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus has the same battery life as the 16e, but it is much more expensive, starting at $1,279. However, it does include the ultra-wide camera, MagSafe, a larger screen and Camera Control.

If you care a lot about mobile photography, you likely want a Pro iPhone. These have extended battery life like the 16e, but include more cameras, more graphics power, but they cost the most starting at $1,449.
