Skadden and Steptoe, Defending Amex GBT, Blasts Biden DOJ’s Antitrust Lawsuit Over Merger Proposal

Counsel for the world’s largest travel management company blasted the U.S. Department of Justice for filing an antitrust lawsuit opposing a merger agreement days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

The Justice Department filed a complaint in Manhattan federal court Jan. 10 alleging American Express Global Business Travel Group’s proposed $570 million acquisition of its competitor CWT Holdings “threatens to substantially lessen competition” in the travel management services industry.
