North Babylon Fire Chief Relieved After Obscene Outburst Caught on Camera

A Long Island fire chief was removed from duty on August 5, 2025, after a TikTok video surfaced showing him shouting obscenities at a child during an emergency response.

The viral video reportedly captures Chief Peter Alt of the North Babylon Fire Company yelling phrases like “shut the f*** up” and “shut your mouth” at a young girl being placed into an ambulance.

The child appeared to be experiencing a mental health emergency, and witnesses say the verbal exchange went on beyond what’s shown.

According to the Town of Babylon’s Director of Communications, town officials have launched an investigation and emphasized that such behavior is “appalling” and “completely at odds with the standards of dignity, respect, and professionalism our residents deserve.”

Within hours of the video’s posting, the fire company announced that Chief Alt had been “relieved of all of his duties pending a full and thorough investigation,” with the promise of appropriate disciplinary action.

They also said they’re reviewing training, policies, and procedures related to emergency response.

The video circulated rapidly online, drawing comparisons to other disturbing incidents involving first responders.
