McGill hires Henderson as CEO, Bermuda. Appoints Cantlay as President, Bermuda

McGill and Partners, the boutique risk solutions and broking firm, has hired Julia Henderson to lead its Bermuda business as CEO, while its London-based reinsurance treaty specialist George Cantlay has been named as President, Bermuda.

Henderson’s hire is subject to the required approvals, but once finalised she will join McGill as a Partner and CEO of its Bermuda operation.

Henderson has experience across the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) space, as well as in insurtech.

McGill and Partners said it expects her to play a key role in driving the growth of its reinsurance business, with a strengthened strategic focus on delivering innovative, efficient, and regulatory-compliant risk transfer solutions.

Henderson has more than 20 years of experience across casualty, specialty, and property reinsurance lines, as well as in ILS.

She had worked at Vesttoo for a time as its Chief Commercial Officer, prior to which Henderson was the President and Head of Portfolio Management at Stable Corporation, a technology company with an index-based platform for commodity hedging that utilised collateralized reinsurance techniques to bring in some of its capacity.

Henderson has also worked at major reinsurance industry and ILS players during her career, including RenaissanceRe, Nephila Capital, PartnerRe, Brit, and Bermuda-based retro ILS specialist Lutece.

George Cantlay, currently working in the McGill global treaty reinsurance team in London, will now take on the additional role of President of the Bermuda business, the company said.

He will oversee the production and placement of reinsurance, working across multiple lines of business for the firm’s Bermuda operation.
