Galway’s Neurent Medical creating 125 jobs by 2028

The news comes amid the official opening of a new manufacturing facility at the Westlink Commercial Park, in Oranmore.

Ear, nose and throat healthcare provider Neurent Medical, will create 125 highly skilled jobs by the end of 2028, with roles to be made available in engineering, quality control, operations, supply chain, sales and marketing.

The jobs were made possible by Neurent’s new Oranmore-based facility which will serve as a hub of production for the company’s Neuromark system, a minimally invasive treatment option designed to target the underlying drivers of chronic rhinitis.

Neurent Medical was founded in 2014 by Brian Shields and David Townley, is headquartered in Oranmore, Galway and also has an office in Austin, Texas. Originating from the Enterprise Ireland-supported BioInnovate Ireland programme, Neurent Medical is representative of Galway’s growing medtech sector.

Brian Shields, the CEO of Neurent Medical, said: “We’re proud to scale our operations in Galway, where the medtech ecosystem continues to thrive. Our new Westlink facility gives us the manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for Neuromark, while creating high-skilled employment opportunities and contributing to economic vitality in the west of Ireland.

“As an Irish-founded company, we’re excited to manufacture our product locally with the exceptional skills available and deliver Irish-engineered medtech innovation to the world.”

Minister of State at the Department of Children, Disability and Equality Hildegarde Naughton, TD added: “I want to congratulate Neurent Medical on this significant achievement. Galway is known as a major player in medical technology, being home to eight of the world’s top 10 medtech companies.

“Today’s announcement is further evidence of that and as a native myself, I am particularly proud to see 125 new highly skilled jobs being created by a company based in Oranmore. I have no doubt, given their impressive growth to date, that this will be but one of many major achievements for the company.”

Aside from the blossoming medtech space, Galway’s engineering sector is also experiencing a period of growth. Electronics manufacturing company M&M Qualtech recently announced a number of new positions at its Parkmore Business Park facility.

Health data platform Datavant also recently announced an expansion into Ireland with the opening of the global R&D centre in Galway, with plans for 125 new jobs in engineering and technology.
