Hudson Structured Capital Management’s (HSCM) Rachel Bardon has been appointed to the newly-created role of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at Compre, the Bermuda-domiciled international specialty reinsurance group, effective September 1st, 2025.
She will also join the board of Compre’s Bermuda-based reinsurer, Pallas Reinsurance Company Limited. Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
Bardon brings 25 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance to her new position. She joins Compre following nearly a decade at HSCM, the reinsurance, insurtech, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and transportation focused investment manager, where she most recently served as Partner, Chief Investment Officer of insurance credit and deputy Chief Investment Officer of reinsurance for HSCM’s reinsurance activities.
During her tenure at HSCM, Bardon was involved in underwriting, investment, and portfolio management across multiple funds, with a particular focus on private investments in P&C insurance enterprises and collateralized reinsurance, both prospective and retrospective.
A qualified actuary, her experience also spans underwriting, investing, portfolio management, pricing, reserving, fund and actuarial valuations, capital modelling, and risk management.
In her new role at Compre, Bardon will be responsible for business development across the group, encompassing new business origination, reinsurance underwriting, transaction execution, and strategic market development.
Addressing Bardon’s appointment, Bridger said: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel to Compre. Her deep industry experience spans the spectrum of capital and liability solutions for cedants in our market, from prospective to retrospective underwriting.
“She will also bring a wider investment focus to the business. Her strong commercial background will strengthen Compre’s capability as we continue to seek further growth in our core North American market.”
