USAA, AAA Sued for Alleged ‘Systemic’ Insurance Fraud in Wake of Los Angeles Wildfires

Southern California homeowners affected by the Palisades and Eaton wildfires in Los Angeles County sued the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) and American Automobile Association (AAA) on Wednesday, contending that they both committed “systemic” fraud by deceiving policyholders about the extent of their coverage.

This left members under-insured by hundreds of thousands of dollars and—in some cases—over $1 million in the aftermath of the catastrophe, leaving them unable to rebuild or replace their homes after the fires leveled the Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and the unincorporated community of Altadena, the plaintiffs claimed.
