Photoshop launches beta on Android

Following the iOS release, Adobe’s new mobile Photoshop app is finally on Android, and all of its features are free for a limited time.

The app is available as a beta on the Google Play Store, but it’s unclear how long it will take to launch the full release. The new version of Android Photoshop includes many great tools, such as object selection, AI background swaps, and more.

After the beta period, premium tools like AI Selection will be behind a paywall. You can bypass this with a regular Adobe subscription or buy the cheaper ‘web and mobile‘ subscription to use the more limited app versions.

If you want to use the Photoshop app on Android, your phone must be running Android 11 or later and have at least 6GB of RAM.

I briefly tested the app on my standard Pixel 9, and it ran fairly well. I was able to mask and edit photos with relative ease. Since the Pixel 9 isn’t the most powerful phone around, I suspect it will run even better on a phone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite-class chipset.
