Refreshed HomePod Mini And Vision Pro To Come In New Colors

With Apple’s September 9 iPhone 17 event now just around the corner, a new report claims that we could see refreshes of the HomePod mini and Apple Vision Pro as well.

Writing for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman claims that there could be new colors in the offing, with the HomePod mini also set to get a new chip that will add support for Siri and Apple Intelligence. Other tweaks are also possible, according to the report.

Apple’s other current smart home accessory — its smart speaker — is set to get a new chip to also support the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features. It’s also due to get an updated wireless chip, a new ultra-wide band chip and improved audio quality. Apple has also tested new colors, including red.

The Apple Vision Pro hasn’t proven to be a popular device, thanks in part to its $3,499 starting price. Now, Gurman believes that Apple is set to ditch the current M2 chip for something faster, while a new Space Black version could also be in the cards.

Gurman suggests that the M4 and M5 chips have been tested, but it seems unlikely that it would debut the latter in its spatial computer.

Vision Pro: Apple is poised to release the first hardware update to the Vision Pro, the controversial and slow-to-sell mixed-reality headset it launched in Feb. 2024. But the update won’t be much to write home about: Apple is swapping out the chip from the M2 to something newer (it’s tested both the M4 and M5). It’s also considered a space black version. The company is planning to roll out a far cheaper and lighter model as well as smart glasses over the next two years.

The September 9 event is expected to see Apple also announce four new iPhone 17 models as well as a new Apple Watch Series 11, refreshed Apple Watch Ultra, and an updated Apple Watch SE.
