Herdwatch launches AI farm assistant

Livestock management software company Herdwatch has introduced an AI farm assistant built specifically for livestock farmers.

Herdi (herd intelligence), is an AI assistant accessible through the Herdwatch app designed to give instant, reliable answers to both herd-specific and general farming questions.

Agri-influencer Philip Stewart, best known as Farmer Phil, said calculating average weights for a group of calves used to involve “messing with a calculator or just guessing.” Now, he explained, “I just ask Herdi, and it does the maths in seconds. There are questions I’d never even thought of asking before, but now I know I can. I’ll be asking Herdi everything and anything to get quick answers on the farm.”

Tipperary farmer Andrew Darmody added: “I could easily spend 15 minutes flicking through articles online or paperwork to find one answer. With Herdi, it takes five seconds. That’s time back for farming, not faffing about.”

Director of product James Greevy explained that farmers don’t want more complexity, they want clarity: “Farmers are drowning in data spread across too many places. Herdi takes herd records, compliance, breeding info, even prices, and turns them into one clear answer a farmer can act on immediately.”

Herdwatch also addressed concerns about trust and data security. Director of technology Pat Bolger said: “Your farm data never leaves your account – it’s yours and yours alone. Herdi uses it to answer your questions, but it doesn’t share it, store it, or learn from it. Think of it as private advice that only you can access.”
