Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge to Get a Larger Battery Capacity

Samsung announced this year the Galaxy S25 Edge as a super-slim flagship phone. To maintain its thinness, the brand had to cut the battery capacity to 3,900mAh, which is mediocre for 2025 standards. But now it seems that the company is finally going to solve the issue with the next-gen model, as the Galaxy S26 Edge is now tipped to get a larger battery capacity.

Galaxy S25 Edge is tipped to pack a larger 4,400mAh battery

Early rumors related to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge had suggested minor improvements in terms of battery capacity. However, the latest report, coming from the Chinese tipster Instant Digital on Weibo, claims that the Galaxy S26 Edge is finally going to get a larger battery capacity. As per the source, it will have a 4,400mAh battery, which is like a decent 12% jump.

For reference, the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs the same 4,400mAh battery. Yes, keeping the 2025 trend in mind, where phones have started having 6,000mAh and 7,000mAh batteries, this is not very commendable. However, the Edge lineup of Samsung is not targeted towards battery and performance-hungry users. And, combined with the good optimization, it can still deliver some decent results.

Not using silicon-carbon battery tech yet

As of right now, there is no information about Samsung switching to the new-generation silicon-carbon battery tech on its devices. Now, how it could manage to fit a larger battery on the Galaxy S26 Edge without making the device chunkier remains a question. After all, the thinness of the device is one of its key selling points and practically the main idea around which “Galaxy Edge” devices exist.

Silicon carbon is a great battery tech that allows manufacturers to store larger batteries in similar or even less space compared to traditional battery tech. It’s still not clear why brands like Samsung and Apple are avoiding it.
