Meta to launch smart glasses with display next month: report

[ad_1]

Meta’s smart glasses with a display may launch next month and cost less than what people previously assumed, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The leak suggests that the glasses, codenamed Hypernova, will cost US$800 (CA$1,104), but the price can change depending on style, variations, and prescription lenses, which would make the device more expensive.

The Hypernova glasses are rumoured to be a high-end version of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which will have a small panel at the bottom of the right lens. You’ll be able to control the display with a wrist accessory called Ceres, according to leaks.

Further, the smartglasses will use a Qualcomm chip and run a customized version of Android. Users will be able to see apps horizontally on the home screen, and the glasses have the ability to use cameras and AI. The glasses will also have capacitive touch controls on the side.

The report says that Hypernova will be unveiled next month. Additionally, Meta is also working on Project Orion, which will be a more lightweight version of its Quest VR headset and the most advanced glasses the company has ever made.
