MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H Series Review

Top Pick 2025 Site

I’ve been wanting to review robotic lawnmowers for years now, and 2025 was the year that finally happened. The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H model is the second mower I’ve tested this year, and I was supposed to get a third, but that never showed up. The first mower I reviewed was the ECOVACS GOAT, which is a fine mower, but my assessment was that it was better suited to suburban lawns and not rural lawns. I hoped that the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H model would fare better on the rough-and-tumble lawnscape that I have.

Estimated reading time: 13 minutes

It is important to note that MAMMOTION has several models, even within the H-Series of mowers. The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H model I have here is the LUBA 2 AWD 10000HX | 2.5 acres. Going forward throughout this review, I will refer to it as the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD. Pricing varies among the many different models and sizes of this robotic mower, so be sure to research those and what will fit your needs. Some models also have lower cutting heights than others, so really dig into the specs of each offering before settling. Let’s get into the full review of the LUBA 2 AWD robotic lawnmower.

The Quick Take

The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H isn’t perfect, but it performed the best (so far) on my rural lawn. The all-wheel-drive system combined with the suspension and powertrain, made for an excellent experience. I would recommend this robot lawn mower for just about everyone, rural and suburban. There are several options to choose from as well. So you don’t have to spend the money on the model I have here, if you have a smaller lawn. Overall, I think the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD is one of the most well-rounded robot mowers out there.

Performance and Battery

9.0/10

Nailed it

  • Cool looking race car design
  • AWD with suspension that works
  • Fairly easy to set up, just read all instructions
  • Robust app and features, easy to use
  • Excellent performance, handles my rough lawn very well
  • Rain sensing and object/pet avoid sensors
  • No wires needed to map area, base station takes care of positioning

Needs work

  • Very pricey for this specific model
  • It would be nice not to need a base station
  • The blades are holding up, but on rough lawns with tree debris and other natural debris…I’m not sure how long the blades will last

The design of the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is pretty slick. This thing looks like a little race car, and I would imagine you could probably have some fun painting it to look like it. Beyond its looks, the design of the all-wheel-drive system and suspension is brilliant. This thing had zero issues handling the rocky terrain, dips, hills, and uneven areas of my lawn.

Setting the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H up is fairly easy, though I would advise you read the instructions on how to install the bumper and read it well. We did have an issue where we did not secure the bumper on properly, and it fell off. So read the instructions thoroughly.

The app is robust and filled with great features to fully control your MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H. It’s easy to use and easy to navigate. There are plenty of customization options from cut height to cut patterns.

Battery life is great on this robot mower. It cut my 19,000 square feet in one charge and a half. If you decide to do a double cut, which I now do, it will take two full charges to complete. That’s about 7-8 hours of worktime for a single cut and double that if you do a double cut.

Performance and cut quality are fantastic. I found that a double cut is really needed for my lawn, no matter which robot is used. Some of my grass is thick and wide, and the blades need that extra pass to get all of it. Overall, the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is a fantastic little mower that is rural lawn friendly and performs brilliantly.

Design

MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H Review 3

The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H design is one of its defining features. It looks like a little race car, and I really want to paint some racing stripes on it! It’s not too heavy and is fairly easy to pick up and move around. The charging station is also light and easy to move around.

The top has controls, sensors, the camera, and the emergency STOP button. The wheels are rugged, and the suspension is a key feature in my book. This suspension system helps this robot traverse uneven terrain very well and keeps it from rattling around and being jarred.

Overall, the design of the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is very nice. It is robust and heavy-duty, making it perfect for this lawn. I love the tires, especially the front tires with rollers that help it to turn much easier. The rear tires are beefy with plenty of bite. The blades and the discs under the robot look to be holding up well. The robot is IPX6 rated, so you can leave it outside. This is really a great design, and the only thing I would change would be to add LiDAR to eliminate the base station and make the bumper easier to install.

Setup/Assembly

MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H Review 4

Setting up the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is simple. First, set up the charging station on a flat area with plenty of space to the left, right, and front of it. Nothing should be in the way, and the instructions will tell you how much room it needs.

Like ECOVACS, the charging station is held down with plastic ground screws that work well for areas that have soft ground. I live in southern Missouri, and we have countless rocks here. So I had a hard time finding an area where these plastic ground screws would get down into the dirt. I was always running into rocks. But I got it, eventually. And the MAMMOTION ground screws are not as long as ECOVACS and were easier to get in the ground.

Once the charging station is in place, unpack the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H and remove all packaging. You will need to install the top camera and the front bumper. These are held in with screws, and the only issue I had was with the front bumper. You have to hold the two tabs in fully while installing the screws, or it won’t hold properly. So read the instructions and follow them to the letter. Test the bumper to be sure it is secure. Then slide it into the charging station and let it charge fully before setting it up in the app. While it’s charging, download the app, make an account, connect to your network, and then wait for the robot to charge.

You will also need to set up the base station. That’s pretty easy. Just find a spot that has a clear line of sight to the sky and install it. Along the roofline is preferable, but in the ground works too. Once you have that setup, it will pair with your robot.

Once charged, click on Add Device, find your MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H in the list, and the app will scan for it. When connected to the app, the robot will connect to your network, and you can just follow the app instructions and watch instructional videos. Overall, straightforward and simple.

App/Software

MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H Review 6

The app that controls the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is excellent. You can control just about everything from the app, and it connects and is stable 100% of the time. At least for me it was. Here are just a few key features of the app.

  • A user-friendly map editor and remote control allow users to add, merge, split, and delete areas depending on personal preference.
  • Multiple zone management, with customizable mowing, allows for luxurious settings: desired speed, cutting height, obstacle avoidance height, etc., fitting your personal schedule and preference.
  • Built-in camera so you can monitor and watch the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H mow your lawn and to see if it’s gotten into trouble.
  • On-the-fly adjustments from within the app.

Overall, the app is great and is easy to use and understand. It provides everything you need to make the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H work properly.

Performance and Battery

MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H Review 5

The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H performed very well on my rural lawn. I have numerous rocky areas, areas with various grades, areas with mole holes, areas with ditches, and just some strange topography. The AWD system did a fantastic job of traversing these areas, and the suspension most certainly works. The single-cut performance is acceptable, but I found that a double cut gave me the best results.

The front wheels have rollers on them to assist the robot when turning and protect the suspension and motors. That feature works phenomenally well. The overall construction is solid, much more robust than the ECOVACS. I feel like this mower should last for years to come.

The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H uses what looks like razor blades to cut grass. They are, of course, not typical razor blades, but they aren’t your normal mower blades. These blades do an impressive job of cutting grass, but I found they don’t like tree debris much. I have numerous trees in my yard, and branch debris is abundant. I found that the continued cutting of this tree debris does wear the blades down faster. That’s expected and not a knock against it. But it is something to be aware of. I do like that you get six blades on each disc instead of four, like ECOVACS.

Battery life on the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is going to fluctuate and be different for everyone. There are too many variables like, hills, slopes, rocks, debris, sun, heat, and other factors that play into battery life. That said. Battery life is great on this robot mower. It cut my 19,000 square feet in one charge and a half. If you decide to do a double cut, which I now do, it will take two full charges to complete. That’s about 7-8 hours of worktime for a single cut and double that if you do a double cut.

Overall, the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H performed much better in battery life and ruggedness than the ECOVACS did. As for the cut and quality of the cut, I would say they are comparable with a slight preference going to LUBA for having more blades to cut with.

Price/Value

The MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H has different models, and the LUBA2 AWD has different versions. So the pricing is different for all of them. The one we have here is made for lawns up to 2.5 acres. So, you should look at all the models and see the specs for each to get the correct one for your needs.

I found that the price point for this 2.5-acre model is worth it. Given that purchasing a riding lawn mower can cost over two thousand dollars plus gas and maintenance. I think the MAMMOTION LUBA2 AWD H is worth the price.
