ChatGPT implementing feature to encourage breaks

On August 4, OpenAI announced the introduction of a new feature for ChatGPT.

This new feature will have the chatbot encourage users to take breaks during long chat sessions with the bot.

This feature is in response to the growing concerns of the chatbot’s impact on mental health, following the many reported cases of the bot contributing negatively to users’ mental health in the past.

OpenAI has announced plans to continue tuning the feature, saying, “We’ll keep tuning when and how they show up so they feel natural and helpful.” The company also claims work on its AI model is being done to better detect and recognize when a user may be experiencing or suffering from mental or emotional distress, adding that it’s “working closely with experts to improve how ChatGPT responds in critical moments.
