What’s Stopping You From Changing?

The Trap of Comparison

Why is it that when the topic of weight, health, or fitness goals comes up, people immediately deflect with what aboutisms?

“But that person is 600 pounds and still walking around.”

My cousin died, and he wasn’t even close to 500 pounds.

These statements might be true. But what are they really doing for your personal growth?

For your journey?

They serve more as distractions than motivation. You can’t use someone else’s extreme situation to justify inaction in your own life.

The Hard Truth: You Just Can’t Do That

Let’s be honest—some things you just can’t get away with. Not if you want change.

Not if you want progress.

And if you’re leaning toward being productive or achieving a real transformation, then you have to ask yourself:

Why is that the one thing you want to get away with?

Why are you idolizing someone’s ability to overeat or live in a way that might not even be sustainable or healthy long-term?

Flip the Energy

Let’s stop glorifying extremes.

If someone managed to eat themselves to 500+ pounds—whether intentionally or unintentionally—that took consistency, repetition, and energy.

So here’s the real question:

Why can’t you take that same energy and reverse it?

Why can’t you take that level of focus, even if it’s subconscious, and redirect it toward losing weight or reaching your health goals?

It’s all energy. It’s all momentum.

What matters is what you choose to do with it.

Use the Energy Around You

We’ve got to learn how to use the energy around us—not just as it’s presented, but in whatever form we can reframe it.

Someone else’s struggle or success, someone else’s journey—it can all teach us something if we choose to listen differently.

And if nothing else…

At least try.
