Tesla just started pushing out its latest software update, version 2025.26, and with it comes something a lot of people have been waiting for: Grok AI integration.
If you were picturing some next-level voice assistant that could adjust your mirrors, plot your route, and crack jokes on demand… slow down. Grok is officially in your car now, but it’s more of a chat buddy than a co-pilot, for now.

Grok shows up as a new feature in the infotainment system (but only for U.S. Tesla owners with AMD chips, found in most models made after mid-2021). It requires Wi-Fi or Premium Connectivity.
Right now, it’s essentially just a built-in chatbot. Think ChatGPT, but embedded into your Tesla’s screen. You can ask it questions, have a conversation, maybe even get help planning your weekend. But: It can’t control the car in any way. Voice commands still work the old way.
This is clearly just step one, a warm-up lap before Grok starts doing real work in your Tesla. That part will (hopefully) come later.

The update isn’t just about Grok. There are a few quality-of-life improvements worth noting, especially if you like lights, music, or watching your dashcam clips like security cam footage:
- Ambient Light Sync: If your Tesla has interior light strips, they now react to music. You can even match them to the album’s color for extra vibes.
- Dashcam Zoom & Playback Speed: You can now zoom in and slow down clips when reviewing dashcam footage. Cybertruck owners also get a new grid view.
- Audio Presets: Save different sound profiles depending on who’s driving or your mood.
- Smarter Charging Info: When heading to a charger, your car can now tell you if you need a valet, where the restrooms are, or if parking’s paid.
- New Owner Walkthrough: First Tesla? A quick-start guide now appears right on the display.

Grok is in Beta. It’s not game-changing yet, but it’s a big move. Tesla clearly wants to get AI into the car experience, and this is the first real taste.
Now let’s see how long it takes Grok to actually do something in your car.
