If you’re looking for iOS 26’s first public beta release and when the expected download release date, here’s what you need to know as an iPhone or iPad user.

When Apple announced the iOS 26 software update during the WWDC opening keynote on June 9, the company immediately released the first developer beta.

We’ve since seen more beta releases for developers but we are still waiting for the first public beta release. Apple has already hinted at when that will be shared, but it’s yet to confirm an exact release date.

Apple has previously said that the first public beta release will come in July, and we expect that it will be released around the same time that the third developer beta is made available. If that’s the case, we expect that the first public beta and iOS 26 beta 3 to be made available for download on or around Monday, July 7, 2025.

We don’t know what that new beta will include just yet, but it’s safe to assume that there will be a hefty array of bug fixes and other improvements as Apple gets the beta ready for the public.

Apple has already confirmed that it intends to release the final iOS 26 update to the public this fall. We expect that will happen in September, around the same time that Apple announces the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro devices. It’s also likely that Apple will announce at least one new Apple Watch model around that time, too.
