Slice, a bank based in India, introduced its credit card, which is powered by the Unified Payments Interface payments system for money transfers. It also opened a branch in Koramangala, according to a press release.

With the credit card, customers can scan a QR code or make UPI payments directly, while earning up to 3% cash back. The bank aims to democratize access to credit through this UPI credit card, which charges no annual fee.

The branch provides a 24 hour ATM, which offers withdrawals and deposits. It integrates UPI standards and has streamlined onboarding processes for new customers.

Although it was initially a fintech, slice recently merged with North East Small Finance Bank to become a full service bank with a core banking system, underwriting and other features.

“In my 40 years of banking, I have witnessed several milestones, but I feel truly proud to be part of what I see as a revolution in how India will perceive banking and finance,” Satish Kumar Kalra, CEO of slice, said in the release. “We are reimagining banking from first principles, building a system where technology, simplicity, and trust come together to serve every Indian. Credit on UPI will be the next big leap for credit access and inclusion in this country, and there is no better way to achieve it than by integrating the entire banking system around it. This is just the beginning of a journey that will redefine banking as we know it.”
