Police were called at a Fremont Federal Credit Union branch in Fremont, Ohio due to three individuals swinging plastic bats at an ATM. However, these individuals were employees filming a video to promote the branch’s new ATMs, according to a report by Toledo Blade.

The group were reenacting the scene from the film Office Space where the main characters destroy a printer with a bat. In this case, they were beating on an old ATM.

Joe Tutak, VP of marketing at FFCU, said he came up with the idea as many employees had a lot of problems with the old ATM.

“We had been experiencing difficulties and performance issues with the ATMs for the past year. The previous vendor was extremely lacking. There were many issues. Subsequently, in April, they went out of business. We were already in the process of replacing the vendor,” Tutak said.

An anonymous caller contacted the police due to the scene. Jack Milkie, CFO of FFCU, spoke to the police officer Jordan Smith when he arrived.

“I kind of knew why the police was there — three grown men taking baseball bats to machinery,” Milkie said in the report. “That might cause alarm for some people driving by. I got ready to answer his questions and put his mind at ease.”

Police left the scene, and the group finished the video. Check it out down below.
