2 arrested for alleged bitcoin ATM scam

Durham, North Carolina authorities arrested a man and a woman from Fayetteville for allegedly running a bitcoin ATM scam. A victim claimed that the pair called them to say their bank account had been compromised and they needed to deposit money into a bitcoin ATM, according to a report by CBS 17.

After this incident, the caller said they would need more money and would send a courier to pick up the cash. When the pair arrived, the victim called the Durham County Sheriff’s Office and 58-yeard old Crystal Books and 20-year old Rudraksh Rawat were arrested.

They are being charged with felony conspiracy and felony obtain property on false pretense.
