The pro-Russian hacktivist group NoName057 has claimed responsibility for a series of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks targeting NATO-related digital infrastructure in the Netherlands and services of the municipality of The Hague, cyber security firm Check Point reported.

Noname057 made the claim on message app on Telegram.

The attacks fit within a broader wave of politically motivated cyber activity directed against NATO member states supporting Ukraine. According to Check Point, they are part of a hybrid war strategy in which digital sabotage goes hand in hand with disinformation and psychological warfare.

The attacks on the Netherlands are not an isolated incident. The hacktivist coalition to which NoName057 belongs, also known as the Holy League, combines dozens of pro-Russian cyber groups such as KillNet, UserSec and CyberArmyofRussia. They previously targeted NATO summits, Western institutions and critical infrastructure in Belgium, Germany, Ukraine and Poland, among others.

According to Check Point Research, there is a clear link between NATO-related events and targeted digital attacks designed to temporarily disrupt systems or disrupt public services. In the process, no data is stolen, but public services are temporarily paralysed or disrupted. The goal: cause confusion, put pressure on societies and influence political discourse.
