New Scan Filters: Float, Short Interest & Days to

June 03, 2025

I’ve just released a new set of new scan filters designed to give traders even more control and precision in identifying potential short squeeze trade setups.  These new filters are available on both the End-of-Day (EOD) scans and the Intraday Alert scans, allowing you to fine-tune your stock selection based on float and short interest metrics. Whether you’re a momentum trader looking for (or to avoid) short squeezes or a swing trader trying to avoid overly crowded trades, these filters are for you.
Set an upper limit on a stock’s float to focus on low-float stocks, which are more prone to explosive price moves due to limited supply.
Low-float stocks often experience higher volatility and can be prime candidates for big intraday or multi-day runs. This filter helps you find stocks that may move quickly due to tight supply.
2. Minimum % of Float Sold Short
Target stocks with a high short interest relative to their float.
High short interest can indicate bearish sentiment… or it can be a setup for a powerful short squeeze. This filter helps you identify which stocks have the fuel for a squeeze.
3. Minimum Days to Cover
Filter by the number of days it would take short sellers to cover their positions based on average daily volume.
The higher the days to cover, the harder it is for shorts to unwind their positions quickly, which can lead to sharp rallies when buying pressure enters.
🔍 Where to Find These Filters

You’ll find these new parameters in both:
  • End-of-Day Stock Scans: At the bottom of the ‘Advanced Filters’ tab.  Apply the filters to your post-market analysis to find candidates for tomorrow’s trades.
  • Intraday Alert Scans: At the bottom of the filters form.  Fine tune the intraday alerts with these new float and short interest filters to zero in on trades that meet all your criteria—while the market is still open.

💡 Example Use Cases

  • Looking for a short squeeze setup? Set a low maximum float, a high minimum % of float sold short, and a high minimum days to cover.
  • Want to avoid overly crowded trades? Use the filters to steer clear of stocks with excessive short interest or low float that don’t fit your risk profile.
