KJK Secures Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit Awards for Clients – KJK


CLEVELAND, OHIO – June 25, 2025 – KJK is proud to share that our firm successfully secured five awards on behalf of three clients in Round 34 of the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit (OHPTC) Program. This competitive state program provides tax credits of up to 25% of qualified rehabilitation costs, with a maximum award of $5 million per project, to encourage private investment in the restoration of Ohio’s historic buildings.

Projects Awarded

TurnDev

TurnDev was awarded a combined $1,826,000 in OHPTCs for three redevelopment projects:

  • N. Nelson Block – This project will restore the historic three-story Nelson Block into a mixed-use development with retail and restaurant space, residential apartments, and a dedicated storage and service area for commercial tenants.
  • South Brooklyn Savings Loan & Co – The 1930s-era building at 4209 Pearl Road will be converted into eight apartments, with 39 additional units to be built next door. The $1.37 million project, led by TurnDev, was awarded $250,000 in new tax credits, adding to a previous $180,000 award.
  • Broadview Savings & Loan Co. – Built in 1919, this former bank at 4221 Pearl Road will be transformed into 22 apartment units through a $5 million redevelopment. TurnDev received an additional $916,000 in tax credits, building on an earlier $373,000 award.

Case Building

  • The historic Case Building is designated to receive $682,540 in OHPTCs for the rehabilitation of the historic two story building that will overlook Irish Town Bend Park in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood. The project will deliver creative law firm office space within Cleveland’s West 25th Street-Detroit Avenue historic district.

Chamberlain/Johnson/Jobbers Building Block

  • The Ohio Department of Development awarded the historic Chamberlain/Johnson/Jobbers Building Block rehabilitation project $2 million in OHPTC funding for the rehabilitation of 1352–1392 W. 6th Street. This $17 million project will convert the historic building into a mixed-use development with multifamily housing and street-level retail and dining options.
