The American Bar Association in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday asked the Justice Department head to reconsider her recent decision ending the ABA’s seven-decade privilege of evaluating federal judicial nominees.
“The ABA is both surprised and disappointed that the Justice Department has decided for the first time in 72 years to (a) block access by the Standing Committee to judicial nominees and (b) to restrict access of the Standing Committee to information that is relevant in evaluating judicial nominees,” ABA President William R. Bay wrote in his letter to Bondi.
