US President Trump Tells Apple To Stop Moving iPhone Production To India

Apple has been moving more of its manufacturing away from China and to other countries ever since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.

India has since become a key center for iPhone production, but as per Bloomberg, United States President Donald Trump has now told Apple to move production away from the country.

Trump has been trying to get companies like Apple to move manufacturing to the United States, a move that has seen the administration levy huge tariffs on countries around the world.

The idea is that the tariffs will make it more costly for companies to produce things in other countries and then import them into the US, making it more affordable to produce things at home instead.

Now, Trump has turned his attention to Apple CEO Tim Cook, with Bloomberg reporting that said that he has “a little problem with Tim Cook” during his state visit to Qatar. Trump went on to add that Cook “is building all over India.”

“They [India] have offered us a deal where basically they have agreed to charge us literally no tariffs. I said ‘Tim, we are treating you really good, we put up with all the plants you built in China for years. We are not interested in you building in India. India can take care of themselves’.”

Trump claims that the discussion with Cook has led to Apple saying that it will increase production in the United States, but it isn’t clear what that will look like and which devices and accessories will be assembled in the country.
