Texan Republican Congressman Lance Gooden is calling for cryptocurrency ATMs to be placed in federal buildings. He said this will support President Donald Trump’s pro cryptocurrency agenda, according to a report by Coindesk.

Gooden has called on the General Services Administration to examine the placement as a way to, “signal to the public that the government is embracing innovation in a secure and responsible manner,” according to a letter.

Gooden said the proposal “aligns with President Trump’s vision of positioning the United States as a global leader in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.”

At the same time, cryptocurrency ATMs have seen significant negative attention due to the increase in scams. For example, Illinois Democratic Senator Dick Durbin has called for regulations on crypto ATMs to prevent scams.
