Discredit Trump-Related Pro Bono? NY Legislation Gets Mixed Review

With less than a month remaining in the New York legislative session, two lawmakers have introduced a bill that would ensure the state wouldn’t recognize pro bono work “resulting from the Trump Administration’s unlawful extortion of private law firms and attack on the practice of law.”

The legislation, A8318A/S7860A, is sponsored by state Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal, D-Manhattan, who chairs the upper chamber’s Judiciary Committee, and Assemblymember Micah Lasher, D-Manhattan.
