ChatGPT users will now find that the generative AI is better than ever at helping them spend money after OpenAI announced shopping upgrades to the services.
Announced via a series of posts on the X social network, the upgrades will make it easier to use ChatGPT to research and then complete a purchase.
“We’re excited to announce we’ve launched several improvements to ChatGPT search, and today we’re starting to roll out a better shopping experience,” OpenAI said in its opening post before going on to share more details.
The new upgrades include direct links to make it easier for shoppers to buy items, while product listings have been improved to include details, pricing, and even reviews if they’re available. OpenAI also noted that the results do not include affiliate tags and are not curated, unlike those provided by websites and traditional search engines.
The upgraded shopping experience is available to all ChatGPT users, and no account is required. We’re told that the new upgrades will be available across the web and ChatGPT apps globally, too.

Other changes announced by OpenAI include multiple citations for responses as well as new trending searches and autocomplete suggestions when formatting a request. ChatGPT users can now also send a message to 1-800-ChatGPT (+1-800-242-8478) via WhatsApp to get sports scores and more.
