Lord, 

Thank You for the gift of family, especially for our blended family. Though all families have their challenges, there is a unique set of challenges that come with being a blended family. But You have brought us together as one and woven us into a new family, and for that, we are so grateful.

Our prayer is that You lead us to live in unity, understanding, love, and peace with one another. Help us to accept one another and the differences that we each bring to the family. Please keep us from being divisive, and help us to seek healthy resolutions for any conflict that we face.

We ask for Your strength and guidance as we navigate our lives as a blended family. Help us to grow in our love towards one another, and to truly see each other as family. Just as You have brought us into a new spiritual family, we ask that the same kind of unity of mind and love be present in our family.

Father,

Thank You for the gracious gift of marriage and family. You have given me different roles, and one of those is being a stepparent. Just as You call me to live in the various areas of my life, You have given me instructions on how to lead and love my children, including my stepchildren. 

I want to thank You for their lives, and for blessing me with them. They are an added blessing that I never would have known I needed until You brought them into my life. Help me to seek Your guidance as I learn how to be a part of their lives, and be a parent to them. 

I pray for my marriage, that we would be unified, and that our marriage would be a strong foundation for our family. May we as a family worship You together, and search Your Word for wisdom and truth. Help me to be patient, tenderhearted, understanding, and Christ-focused.

Heavenly Father, 

I come before You seeking Your wisdom and guidance in blending my family. There are so many different things to consider when getting married, and blending a family is one of those. Please help us approach our children and one another with gentleness as we discuss the changes that will occur through bringing our families together.

We ask for Your wisdom in how to speak to our children and ways in which we can bring them together. Please help our children to be gracious toward us and one another, and to see the gift in uniting as one family. May our marriage be a blessing to our children and family as a whole.

Help us to tackle the challenges that arise together and not stand divided. Remind us that it is not about mine or yours but that a blended family means ours. I ask for Your grace and patience in times of difficulty and for love to ultimately unite us as a family.

Dear God, 

I humbly come before You with a prayer for my children. I know that blending a family is not an easy task. There are so many different components to think of and it can be a hard adjustment for the children to not only accept the new parent but also the children who they now call their siblings.

My prayer is that You grant my biological children hearts that are open to their new family members. Please help me to be patient with them and help them see the gift of having more siblings, and a stepparent. May they not see it as something that is being imposed on them but as something that they get to share in, and enjoy for themselves. 

If there is any reason for my children to have closed-off hearts, please help me to talk through it with them and to come to a resolution. Help them to build loving relationships with both their stepparent and siblings.

Lord,

Today I am reminded of all the blessings You have given me. Not only have You given me biological children, but You have given me an added blessing in the form of my stepchildren. Thank You for all of them, and that I get to call them all my children, with no distinctions.

Thank You for entrusting me with each of them. Please help me to love them all in the ways that they need, and care for them in ways that they best feel cared for. Help me to be a listening and attentive ear for them, and help them to feel as though they have the freedom to come to me and trust me. 

I am grateful for the gift of my blended family, and for how You have brought all of our different and unique personalities together. May we learn from one another and experience the joy, peace, and unity of Christ as a family.

Father,

You have shown us the greatest example of love through Christ. Because of His sacrificial love we have been given the right to be called children of God. As I think of that reality that You brought me into, I am reminded of my own role as both a parent and a stepparent. You have given me all of my children as blessings to treasure, love, and lead. 

My prayer is that You grant me a love that is not partial but that is rooted in Christ. May that love overflow into each of my children’s lives, and may they see me treating them equally. Help me to be an agent for unity in our home and not to make decisions and behave in ways that would divide our household.

Help me and my spouse to treat all our children as our own. May everyone in our family feel equally important, seen, known, and loved. May our relationships with one another thrive, and grow. Help us to have mutual respect for one another, and to seek unity and peace as far as it depends on us.

Gracious God, 

I come to You with the challenges of being part of a blended family. It is so easy and often that there are strained relationships between stepparents and biological parents. You know the differences and challenges that we face in our own family. 

I ask that You help me and my stepchildren’s other parents build a harmonious relationship. Please help us to treat one another with respect, and to always place the interest of the children above that of our own. Help us to be gracious towards one another and the differences we have, and to live peaceably with one another.

Keep us from allowing the past, or any resentment from affecting our treatment of one another. Help us to speak kindly of each other to our children and to remember we are ultimately working together and not against one another for the sake of the children.

Lord,

Thank you for my beautifully blended family. Thank You for the story of redemption that You have brought about in our lives, and that we get to have the addition of new family members to our lives. You have placed us together, and together we ask that You bless our family.

Thank You for every person that You have placed in our family. It is such a gift to share life with them and to learn from one another. As we grow as a family, we ask that You be our guide. Grant us patience, understanding, and compassion towards each other. 

Please bless our family with unity, and tie that unity together with love. I pray for healthy relationships with one another. Help us to endure the tough times together and to experience Your joy, peace, and providence.
