About the TNDALU

The Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of the State Legislature [Act No.43 of 1997] established the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in learning, teaching and research in the field of law.

His Excellency Shri. K.R. Narayanan, former President of India inaugurated it on September 20, 1997, and the University started from October 3, 1997 onwards.

About The Department of Maritime Law

The Maritime Law Department equips young law graduates with a thorough understanding of the legal frameworks governing maritime commerce, ocean resources, vessel navigation, and maritime security, making them well-prepared to tackle issues in both commercial and environmental domains.

About the Conference

The Department of Maritime Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, in collaboration with Gujarat Maritime University, is organizing a Three-Day International Conference (Hybrid Mode) on “Emerging Trends of Maritime Laws in India” on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of April 2025.

Mode

In recognition of the international character of the maritime industry, a hybrid mode has been adopted, wherein certain sessions will be conducted online to accommodate our resource persons.

The above-mentioned sub-themes are not exhaustive, the author may choose any other theme, however, the same shall not be in derogation of the primary theme of the Conference.

Objective

  • The objectives of the “Emerging Trends of Maritime Laws of India” conference focus on understanding and evolving the legal landscape of the Indian maritime sector. These objectives include analysing global maritime trends and their potential impact on India’s maritime industry.
  • It navigates the legal challenges faced by the Indian maritime sector and proposes solutions. It explores the role of technology and innovation in the maritime sector and their legal implications. Considering, environmental concerns and sustainable practices in the maritime sector.
  • The aim is to create a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and policy discussions among legal experts, industry professionals, and policymakers, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of India’s maritime sector.

Eligibility

We invite submissions from students pursuing law, academicians, scholars, advocates, naval officers, and technical experts from the maritime Industry.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts of not more than 300 words, for original research papers on the abovementioned sub-themes are invited, and submitted as Word document (.doc or .docx format), with a cover letter containing the name, designation of the author(s), institute of affiliation and contact details.
  • Co-authorship is permitted to a maximum of two authors.
  • The abstract shall reflect the research objectives, research questions, and the theme of the article. It should also be accompanied by 5-7 keywords.
  • Only the authors of shortlisted abstracts shall be required to send their full-length papers and will be eligible to present their research papers.
  • All Abstracts are to be sent via e-mail to TNDALU at maritimeconferencetndalu@gmail.com on or before 22nd March 2025 with the subject “TNDALU-Conference Abstract Submission”.

Research Paper

After due scrutiny and communication of acceptance of the selected abstracts, the Editorial Board shall be accepting electronic submissions only. The following guidelines must be strictly followed:

  • The full-length paper, Between 3500 -5000 words (inclusive of footnotes).
  • Must be sent as an attachment in .doc or .docx format.
  • Submissions must be mailed to maritimeconferencetndalu@gmail.com with the subject “TNDALUConference Final Submission”.
  • Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • The manuscript should not contain the name of the author, institutional affiliation or any other identification mark.
  • Contributors are required to adhere to the 21st edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
  • The manuscript must strictly adhere to the following formatting guidelines:
    • MAIN BODY: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line Spacing: 1.5 lines, and Alignment: Justified.
    • FOOTNOTES: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 10, Line Spacing: 1 (Single), and Alignment: Justified.
    • MARGINS: 1 inch or 2.54 cm on all sides.
  • The last date for sending the final submissions is 1st April 2025.

Registration Details

Only those whose abstracts have been selected will be eligible to register as presenters.

The following points should be duly noted:

  • The registration process for the presenters shall begin after the intimation of the selection of abstracts i.e. 28th March 2025.
  • A registration form will be duly attached with the intimation mail.
  • The presenters shall be required to send the duly filled registration form along with the electronic proof of payment of registration fees (scanned receipt/screenshot) to maritimeconferencetndalu@gmail.com.
