Law Society of Ontario CEO Diana Miles departed this week after a confidential investigation into her salary hike to nearly CA$1 million, exposing rifts and power struggles at the heart of the province’s legal regulator.

Lawyers, who pay a mandatory fee of more than $2,000 a year to the Law Society, are calling for further resignations and answers about how Miles was able to create what one described as her own “little kingdom” within the regulator and quietly pocket a pay raise believed to be more than 50%.
