Volunteers recently discovered a dumping ground of stolen safes and ATMs in Santa Susana Pass, a mountain road in Southern California. The location was right off Highway 118, according to a report by CBS News.
A volunteer was able to return some of the personal belongings in the safe to victims, such as passports, living trusts, social security cards and other items.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating this case. Volunteer David Weisberg believes this could be tied to a criminal ring.
“It does seem like quite a coincidence that on this particular hill there’s seven safes down there,” Weisberg said in the report. “That they would be all dumped in the same spot, you’d think it’s the same ring.”
