About the Opportunity
This is a replacement role and covers a broad range of corporate/commercial and operational matters, offering a rare opportunity to gain valuable corporate commercial experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment with a team of high-caliber colleagues coming from diverse backgrounds.
As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for handling all legal matters related to our company’s operations in India and also assist on regional matters, as and when required. This includes drafting and negotiating customer contracts, vendor agreements, and employment contracts.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that our business complies with all relevant regulatory requirements, including data protection and privacy laws. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Legal of the company in Singapore.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Draft and review customer contracts, vendor agreements, and employment contracts, ensuring they meet legal requirements and protect the company’s interests.
- Assist in negotiations of contracts and agreements with customers and vendors.
- Advise on legal matters related to employee issues, including compliance with labor laws and dispute resolution.
- Keep up-to-date with regulatory changes that affect the company’s operations, including data protection and privacy laws, including but not limited to India.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to provide guidance to management on legal issues related to the company’s operations in various business markets such as Singapore, India, the US, Europe, and China.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders such as product development, marketing, and finance teams.
- Assist with other legal matters as required by the company.
Eligibility Criteria
- Law degree from an accredited institution.
- Admitted to practice in India.
- 3-6 years of experience in corporate law, contract law, and/or regulatory compliance with an understanding of software-as-a-service as an international business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prior experience in a similar set-up.
