Illinois police arrest two men for ATM jackpotting

Police in Petersburg, Illinois have arrested two men for allegedly stealing from ATMs in the area. They stopped a car for a minor traffic infraction and then searched the vehicle and found jackpotting equipment within, according to a report by WLDS.

The two men were booked at the Menard County jail. In jackpotting, criminals open an ATM to install malware that allows them to make illegal withdrawals.

Jose Rafael Lopez Alejos, 23 and Brandon J. Gonzalez, 23 are charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal damage to property and theft over $500.
