Firm Leaders Waiting to See New Labor Secretary’s Unionization Stance, Pace of Deregulation

Uncertainty about priorities of a new U.S. labor secretary and new presidential administration’s approach to federal employment policies and rules likely will keep law firms’ demand for their services growing and revenue flowing, according to leaders at some of the country’s top management-side labor and employment firms.

Despite the traditional Republican emphasis on compliance rather than enforcement, Labor Secretary-designate Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s past support for organized labor, and President Donald Trump’s stand on such issues as the pace of deregulation, will create enough uncertainty that employers will continue to seek legal guidance at the same level they do now, they said.
