Chief Justice Roberts Briefly Pauses Order for Trump to Pay USAID Bills


Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. granted a temporary reprieve to the Trump administration on Wednesday night after a federal district judge ordered it to release by midnight roughly $2 billion held from the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Roberts’ “administrative stay,” at the administration’s request, will spare the State Department and USAID from having to immediately pay around $2 billion in invoices for foreign-assistance work and loans.
