About the Conference

The Conference is being organized by NLUO Center for International Trade Law (CITL). The issue of trade and environment is being discussed since many years. Two views have been presented to us over the years.

One is that increase in trade leads to economic development and increase in national income. This facilitates transition to environment friendly production and technology because we are able to pay for it. The other view is that increase in trade results in increase in production, transportation and consumption. This is one of the causes of climate change.

Consumption of energy resources increases with increase in trade. The increase in production and transportation results in increased consumption of energy.

The world has started a transition towards green energy resources, but fossil fuels are the main source of energy generation. Can trade policies help in the energy transition. The Conference is being organized to discuss this issue.
