Less than a month before Judge Shermela Williams is expected to appear for an ethics hearing in March, the Judicial Qualifications Commission of Georgia has announced additional ethics charges against the Atlanta Judicial Circuit jurist.
On Monday, JQC director Courtney Veal filed additional formal charges alleging Williams improperly detained a witness, improperly influenced a legal matter involving a family member, and issued delayed court orders.
‘On Behalf of Her Uncle’
In a 25-page charging document, Veal outlined alleged judicial misconduct linked to at least nine complaints filed between 2023 and 2024 against Williams.
