Two weeks after Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp pledged to make tort reform a legislative priority in his State of the State address, the governor announced his package Thursday morning.

As the Georgia legal community begins to examine the proposal, lawyers throughout the Peach State had mixed reactions to Kemp’s legislative push.

During his Jan. 16 address, Kemp’s tort reform remarks centered on preventing “excessive lawsuits” from increasing insurance costs capable of crippling the growth and operations of small businesses and health care providers.
