Today is the last day for Fido’s Lunar New Year deals

Rogers-owned Fido says January 27th is the last day for its Lunar New Year plan deals.

The company added 10GB of bonus data to two plans on January 22nd for Lunar New Year, but a new notice on Fido’s website warns the bonus will end on the 27th. Notably, Fido also increased one of the data bonuses slightly.

The company still has the $40/60GB 4G plan, which is regularly $55/50GB. However, it has the 10GB bonus data along with a $10/mo discount for autopay and an additional $5/mo discount. Fido added that $5 discount back on January 17th and it’s not technically part of the Lunar New Year offer. It was slated to be removed on January 20th, but Fido didn’t follow through on the removal.

Fido’s other plan is $50/mo for 88GB of data. That’s up 3GB from the original 85GB offer Fido launched on the 22nd. It’s not entirely clear why Fido bumped up the bonus data on this plan — perhaps it was intended to better compete with Koodo’s $50/90GB Lunar New Year offer, but Koodo removed that on January 24th before Fido increased its plan.

Oddly, Fido appears to have changed the $50 plan on a deeper level, as it no longer lists the $5/mo discount or any bonus data — it’s just a $50/mo pan ($60 without autopay) with 88GB of data. Not that it matters that much, since Fido still lists today as the last day to get the plan.

However, it remains to be seen what happens with the plans. Fido previously added end dates to some of its special offers, like the aforementioned $5/mo discount, but never followed through on removing the deal. So, there’s a chance the $40/60GB and $50/88GB plans will still be around tomorrow, but just in case, you may want to nab one of these plans today.

Fido isn’t the only provider changing things up. Today is the last day for several of Freedom’s plans too, and it’s not clear what Freedom will offer tomorrow.
