Shared on Chiphell and later spotted by Videocardz, the leak showcases an MSI-branded Gaming Trio variant of the GPU, complete with its triple-fan cooling design. Although the original post on Chiphell has been deleted, the details it revealed about the graphics card are still generating buzz among tech enthusiasts.
The retail box confirms several previously speculated specifications. The GeForce RTX 5080 will feature 16 GB of VRAM paired with a 256-bit memory bus. Additionally, it will include three DisplayPort connections and one HDMI port, although the exact versions of these ports remain unspecified. No new features tied to Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture were mentioned on the packaging.
The RTX 5080 is set to officially launch on January 21, 2025. Notably, it will precede the higher-end RTX 5090, breaking away from Nvidia’s typical release strategy. This decision seems to be aimed at ensuring the RTX 5080 gets its moment in the spotlight, as the RTX 5090—with an expected 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM—could easily overshadow it.
