How do you mention someone in your WhatsApp status?
Although WhatsApp rolled out this feature a few months ago, it still hasn’t reached all users. To use this feature, you must update the WhatsApp app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Once you’ve updated the WhatsApp app, follow these simple steps to mention someone in your Status.
1. Launch the WhatsApp app on your Android or iPhone.
2. When the app opens, switch to the Updates tab at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap Add Status in the Status section.
4. Select the select the media file you want to share. To mention a contact, tap the @ symbol at the bottom right corner.
5. On the Add Mentions screen, select the contacts you want to mention.
6. Once you have selected the contacts, tap the arrow button to update your Status.
Important things about the Status Mentions
Although any WhatsApp user can mention you in Status, there are certain things you should keep in mind. Here are some of them.
- If someone mentions you individually, other people viewing the status won’t see you were mentioned.
- Not even other people mentioned on the Status will be able to see you were mentioned.
- If you’re in a group that was mentioned, all the group members can see the Status mentioned.
- You can reshare the Status content as your own.
- To stop receiving Status mentions, you can block the person or exit and delete the group.
