Tech giant Google has launched Braille Keyboard Talkback for Android users. This feature has been developed specifically for the blind. It will not require users to download any additional app. The company has shared this information in its blogspot. The special thing is that this talkback keyboard has been developed in conjunction with the blind and people with low vision.
6 standard button layouts in the keyboard
This keyboard will be handy for users who have already typed in Braille. It has 6 standard button layouts. Each button represents one of 6 braille dots. Tapping on it symbolizes any letter. To illustrate this with an example, typing A would have to tap 1 dot and on typing B, 1 and 2 would have to be taped together. This keyboard will work in all text fields, from Android documents to Gmail. It also allows you to delete the typed word.
Will support on all versions of Android 5.0 and above
The Braille keyboard can be used on all devices with Android 5.0 and up. To use this keyboard, go to Settings in the ACCESSIBILITY section and talkback on. The user will then be able to use this keyboard.
